Nintendo is set to increase the price of its Switch 2 console by $50, bringing its retail price to $499.99 starting in September. To mitigate this upcoming price adjustment, the company has unveiled new console bundles that will offer some of the most competitive pricing for the Switch 2.

Two new bundles are planned: one featuring Mario Kart World and another for the upcoming Nintendo Switch Sports Resort. The Mario Kart World bundle will be available in late September for $549.99. It includes the Switch 2 console, a digital copy of Mario Kart World, and a 90-day Nintendo Switch Online individual membership. This bundle represents a saving of approximately $38 for consumers.

The Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle is scheduled to launch concurrently with the game on October 22. Priced at $529.99, this package includes the console, a digital copy of Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and a 90-day Nintendo Switch Online individual membership. The savings for this bundle are pegged at $28. The slightly lower price point for this bundle is attributed to the game's expected retail cost, while the reduced savings are due to it being a new release at launch.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, the follow-up to 2022's Switch Sports, will feature 12 games in total. Five of these are returning from its predecessor: tennis, volleyball, basketball, bowling, and golf. New additions to the sports lineup include table tennis, archery, skateboarding, and thumb wrestling.

This price increase for Nintendo's hardware follows similar moves from other major console manufacturers. Both PlayStation and Xbox have implemented multiple price adjustments for their hardware. This industry-wide trend is reportedly linked to a shortage in RAM and storage components for consumer electronics, a situation exacerbated by the rise of generative AI. Consequently, consoles that would typically see price reductions at this stage of their lifecycle are instead experiencing price hikes, contributing to a slowdown in console sales across the industry.

The official price increase for the Switch 2 hardware will take effect on September 1.
