Nintendo held its September 2026 Nintendo Direct presentation today, offering a nearly 45-minute look at games slated for release on Switch 2 this winter. The showcase featured a mix of anticipated first-party titles and significant third-party announcements.
Among the major reveals was the confirmation that Monster Hunter Wilds will launch on Switch 2 on December 4. Its upcoming expansion, Ascendance, is also set to arrive next year.
Further details emerged for the Final Fantasy series on Switch 2. Final Fantasy Resonance, the third part of the remake saga, is scheduled for an April 8 release next year. Additionally, Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion will be available on Switch 2 later today.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is also making its way to Switch 2 in a Definitive Edition. This version promises enhanced performance, including 60fps support and more enemies on screen, along with all previously released expansion content. A new Calamity mode will also be included. The game launches on February 25 next year, with a digital discount offered to owners of the original Switch 1 version.
The quirky team-based hide-and-seek game Meccha Chameleon, which has seen considerable success, will also be available on Switch 2 starting today.
While the presentation focused heavily on upcoming winter releases, Nintendo also hinted at potential future announcements, including a possible nod to a rumored The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for the Switch 2, although details were scarce following yesterday's dedicated Zelda 40th anniversary showcase. Games like Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and Nintendo Switch Sports Resorts were also mentioned as part of the expected first-party lineup.
