Hello Games is celebrating the 10th anniversary of No Man's Sky with a significant update that dramatically overhauls the space between planets. The Cosmos update, available now, focuses on areas of the game that have seen minimal change since its launch, transforming the void into a more interactive and resource-rich environment.
New Celestial Features
The Cosmos update introduces a variety of new elements to space. Players will encounter massive space hulks ripe for salvaging, new outposts, biological wrecks, and asteroid belts teeming with valuable resources. Some of these asteroids are now large enough to land on, allowing for the construction of bases directly on their surfaces.
Orbital Construction and Player Stations
Beyond asteroid bases, the update enables the creation of orbital bases, which can be built anywhere in space. These structures can serve various purposes, from personal hangars to community hubs, with planets visible below. Furthermore, players can now own and customize space stations. These stations can be personalized inside and out, serving as personal headquarters or gathering spots for friends. The update also facilitates the formation of alliances, allowing players to collaborate on building networks of stations and compete on new leaderboards.
A Decade of Transformation
This latest update continues Hello Games' commitment to evolving No Man's Sky, which has seen numerous substantial additions since its initial release. Previous updates have introduced gameplay mechanics such as a gravity gun for manipulating wreckage, and a creature-capturing and battling system. The Cosmos update marks another significant step in the game's ongoing transformation, making space itself a more dynamic and engaging part of the player experience.
No Man's Sky is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
