Moon Studios has announced that its action RPG, No Rest for the Wicked, will not launch its 1.0 version in October as originally planned. The full release has been postponed to March 2027. This delay will allow the development team, described as small, to meet their quality standards for performance, the class system, and overall game polish.
Prior to the 1.0 launch, an open beta test is scheduled for December, with further details to be released. Moon Studios emphasized that the additional time is crucial for refining the game to a standard they deem acceptable for its final release. This period will also include more closed and open beta tests, offering the community opportunities to contribute to the development process.
No Rest for the Wicked has been available in early access on Steam since April 2024. During this period, it has received significant updates and garnered nearly 65,000 user reviews, selling over one million copies. When the game transitions to its full 1.0 release, its price is expected to increase from the current $40 to $60, a point previously warned about by Moon Studios chief Thomas Mahler in January.
The studio made no direct mention of Grand Theft Auto 6, which is slated for release on consoles in November, despite No Rest for the Wicked's original 1.0 launch window being just a month prior. The decision to delay has been attributed internally to the need for further development and refinement rather than external competitive factors.
