EA Sports has unveiled the top 10 teams in College Football 27 based on their Overall (OVR) ratings, placing the Oregon Ducks at the pinnacle with a 91 OVR. The game features over 100 schools, each offering unique draws for players across various game modes, whether for their stadium, uniforms, coach, or historical significance. However, for those seeking the best of the best, the OVR rating is the key metric.

Top 10 Teams by OVR

The Oklahoma Sooners start the list at number 10 with an 87 OVR. Despite the return of quarterback John Mateer, bolstering their offense, questions surrounding their defense and a lack of standout offensive playmakers keep them from a higher ranking. Following closely are the Georgia Bulldogs at number 9, also with an 87 OVR. While Georgia consistently fields a strong defense, their offense faces significant challenges, placing a heavy burden on quarterback Gunner Stockton.

The Ole Miss Rebels secured the 8th spot with an 88 OVR, buoyed by the return of QB Trinidad Chambliss and RB Kewan Lacy, which establishes them as a potent offensive force. Despite the departure of head coach Lane Kiffin, the impact on either side of the ball is expected to be minimal.

At number 7, the LSU Tigers also boast an 88 OVR. New head coach Lane Kiffin takes over an 88 OVR team, relying on transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt. Their home advantage at the notoriously difficult Tiger Stadium is a significant asset. The Miami Hurricanes are tied at number 6 with an 88 OVR. Led by Heisman candidate Malachai Toney, Duke transfer QB Darian Mensah, and RB Mark Fletcher Jr., the Hurricanes possess a formidable offense, though their defensive capabilities remain a concern.

The Texas Longhorns narrowly miss a 90 OVR, landing at number 5 with an 89 OVR. Quarterback Arch Manning could be a Heisman contender, supported by the addition of transfer wide receiver Cam Coleman. The Longhorns' defense also earned an 88 OVR rating.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish are a familiar presence near the top, ranking 4th with an 89 OVR. Key contributors like QB CJ Carr, WR Jordan Faison, and CB Leonard Moore return. However, their ability to compete with Power Five conference powerhouses is still a point of interest.

Top Contenders

Indiana Hoosiers are ranked 3rd with a 90 OVR. Head coach Curt Cignetti's track record is impressive, but the loss of their Heisman-winning quarterback and numerous key players will test his abilities. Despite having strong players on both sides of the ball, their roster depth is not quite on par with the top two teams.

The Ohio State Buckeyes, surprisingly, sit at number 2 with a 90 OVR, tied with Indiana. Despite expectations of a higher rating, they are still considered to have one of the best rosters in the nation. The offense returns QB Julian Sayin, WR Jeremiah Smith, and RB Bo Jackson, while the defense faces the challenge of replacing eight starters. Ohio State boasts the best offense and a top-10 defense in the game.

Topping the list at number 1 with a 91 OVR are the Oregon Ducks. All of the top three teams hail from the Big Ten conference. Oregon's top rating is largely due to the return of numerous key players, including QB Dante Moore, TE Jamari Johnson, WRs Dakorien Moore and Evan Stewart, and DE Matayo Uiagalelei. The Ducks feature the number one OVR defense and the second-best OVR offense, bolstered by significant transfers like WR Iverson Hooks and S Koi Perich. While their ability to perform in crucial games is yet to be proven, their roster suggests a dominant season.

Top Offenses and Defenses

Ohio State leads the list of top offenses with a 92 OVR, followed by Oregon with a 91 OVR. Indiana and Texas are tied at 90 OVR, with Miami close behind at 90 OVR. LSU ranks sixth with an 89 OVR, while Notre Dame and Ole Miss both have 88 OVR offenses. Missouri also achieved an 88 OVR offense, and Oklahoma rounds out the top 10 with an 87 OVR.

On the defensive side, Oregon leads with a 91 OVR, followed by Indiana and Notre Dame, both with 90 OVR. Texas Tech Raiders are also at 90 OVR. Georgia and Alabama Crimson Tide are tied at 89 OVR. Ohio State's defense is rated at 88 OVR, alongside Texas Longhorns. Oklahoma Sooners hold an 88 OVR defense, and LSU Tigers complete the top 10 with an 87 OVR. Notably, eight of the top 10 OVR teams are also represented in the top 10 defenses.
