Mattel Brick Shop is celebrating the original Xbox's 25th anniversary with an ambitious building kit that replicates the iconic console at a 1:1 scale. The 3,509-piece set, priced at $329.99, is available for preorder with an October 1 release date.
The replica captures the aesthetic of the 2001 original Xbox and includes a full-size replica of the Duke controller. This controller features pressable buttons that activate interactive lights and sounds within hidden dioramas tucked inside the console. A special button combination can also trigger an exclusive lighting sequence.
These dioramas are inspired by three seminal Xbox games: Halo: Combat Evolved, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and Psychonauts. Players can choose to keep these scenes concealed or display them separately. The set also comes with 12 "NanoWorld" figures, featuring characters such as Master Chief and Razputin Aquato.
Mattel Brick Shop, formerly known as Mega Bloks, offers buildable model kits similar to LEGO sets, often securing licenses for different brands. While LEGO has partnered with franchises like Nintendo and Star Wars, Mattel Brick Shop has focused on brands including Masters of the Universe, Hot Wheels, and now, Xbox.
The detailed Xbox building kit is available for preorder at retailers like Best Buy. However, it has already sold out at Amazon, indicating strong demand for the collectible.
