Overwatch players are being urged to disable a new setting for Lifeweaver's Life Grip ability, which was introduced in Season 4. The change allows players targeted by Life Grip to cancel the pull, a feature that some players believe undermines the support hero's core function. Lifeweaver's Life Grip allows him to pull allies toward him, typically to save them from dangerous situations. This ability has been a key part of the hero's kit since his introduction in 2023. However, the recent update modified the ability to grant targeted players a window to escape the pull. The developer's intent was to provide agency to players who might not wish to be moved, but this has raised concerns among Lifeweaver mains.

According to some players, those who are most likely to be caught in precarious situations are also the most likely to want to cancel a Life Grip, even when it is intended as a life-saving maneuver. An example cited involves Reinhardt players who may become agitated when pulled out of a one-on-one tank duel, failing to recognize their own low health. The control scheme for canceling the grip, mapped to the jump button, also presents a potential issue, as players might instinctively jump when in danger, inadvertently canceling the grip.

To revert to the previous behavior, players can navigate to the game's Options menu. Within the Hero settings, a new toggle labeled "Enable Life Grip cancel controls" can be found. Disabling this option will restore the ability to its original functionality, where players cannot cancel the grip once initiated. This change aims to ensure that Lifeweaver can continue to fulfill his role of saving teammates without interference from those who might not recognize an impending threat.
