As Palworld prepares for its official 1.0 launch on July 10th, developer Pocketpair has issued a warning to players who may have installed mods, particularly those who haven't played the game in a while. The upcoming update introduces significant system changes that could cause conflicts with outdated mod data.

According to a Steam post from Pocketpair, old mods that have not been updated may lead to problems such as game crashes, corrupted save data, and the inability to complete certain quests. To ensure a smooth transition to the 1.0 version, the developer recommends a series of steps.

Players are advised to first back up their save data. Following this, it is crucial to manually delete any old mod files from the game's installation folder, or at least move them to a separate location. After cleaning out mod files, players should verify the integrity of their game files through Steam. The final preparatory step is to launch the game to confirm it runs correctly without any mods before downloading the 1.0 update.

Pocketpair also noted that some save files might have been dependent on specific mods, and these saves may no longer be loadable once the mods are removed. Players should keep this in mind when backing up their data. The general recommendation is to refrain from installing any mods unless their creators have explicitly updated them to be compatible with the 1.0 release.

A launch trailer for the 1.0 version was also released, showcasing familiar Palworld gameplay with some new additions. The game's full launch is set for tomorrow, July 10th.
