Phasmophobia is set to replace its current bone collectibles with a new item called conduits when the game reaches its 1.0 release, which has been delayed to 2027. Developer Kinetic Games announced the upcoming change, which aims to introduce "new lore to the ghost and the overall world of Phasmophobia."
Currently, players can collect 21 different types of bones scattered throughout investigation areas. Finding a bone grants cash and experience rewards, with larger maps offering greater amounts. For example, finding a bone on a small map like Tanglewood yields $25 and 25 XP, while on a large map like Sunny Meadows, players receive $50 and 50 XP. Collecting a new bone type adds it to a trophy cabinet in the lobby, and gathering all 21 unlocks the "Bone Collector" achievement. Photographing a bone before collecting it can also provide additional media rewards.
Bones spawn randomly within accessible areas of the map, meaning they can appear on the floor or furniture but not inside closed containers. Their random nature can make them difficult to locate, especially on larger maps. Players can use the Ouija board to ask for the bone's room location, though this costs 20% of their Sanity. Alternatively, dead players can communicate the bone's whereabouts, or players can resort to throwing objects in its general direction to pinpoint it.
The new conduits, set to debut in 2027, will replace bones as a collectible. These items are described as seemingly everyday objects that will be paired with specific ghost models. Kinetic Games has previewed some examples of these conduits, including a burned letter, a locket, a watch, a smashed lightbulb, and a set of children's bracelets attached to a medical wristband. The exact mechanics and rewards associated with finding conduits have not yet been detailed by the developer.
