PlayStation has announced a postponement for its inaugural wireless fight stick, the FlexStrike, citing unexpected production delays. The peripheral, initially slated for an August 6, 2026, release, will now launch at an as-yet undetermined date.

The company revealed the delay on its official blog on July 14, 2026, stating that "unexpected production delays" are the cause. PlayStation indicated that the FlexStrike would launch at a "later date" and committed to providing further updates soon. "We’re working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our players with FlexStrike, so we’re taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product. We apologize for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches," the company stated.

Players who pre-ordered the FlexStrike directly from PlayStation can check their order status on the company's website and will receive continued updates. Those who placed orders through third-party retailers are advised to contact their respective sellers for inquiries.

The FlexStrike, priced at $199.99, is designed for tournament play and features a rechargeable battery. It is compatible with both PlayStation 5 and PC. Pre-orders for the fight stick opened on June 27. Despite initial cautious optimism from the fighting game community, the delay comes amid broader player criticism of PlayStation's recent shift towards digital-only releases, which has extended to concerns about its physical hardware and peripherals.
