Pokémon Go is offering players a chance to obtain a "hundo" (perfect IV) Mewtwo through a surprise 10th Anniversary Timed Research quest. This event aims to provide a significant reward to all players, regardless of their participation in past in-person events.
The "10th Anniversary Celebration" Timed Research quest has a deadline of Sunday, September 6th, at 11:59 PM local time. The rewards differ slightly for players based on whether they attended the Times Square 10th Anniversary event in July 2026.
Players who did not attend the Times Square event will receive a quest that rewards a Mewtwo with maximum stats, a special background, and unlocks the third Mega Level for Mega Mewtwo Y upon completion of its single step. This step involves catching 10 Pokémon and powering up Pokémon 10 times, with the latter task granting 500 Mega Mewtwo Y Energy.
Those who attended the July 2026 Times Square event will have a similar single-step quest. This version requires catching 10 Pokémon and powering up Pokémon 10 times. The rewards for these players include a Mewtwo encounter, a special background, and the same third Mega Level unlock for Mega Mewtwo Y. However, instead of a guaranteed hundo Mewtwo, this quest offers 30 Mewtwo Candy for completing the catch objective.
The notes suggest that this Mewtwo is well-suited for battling Fighting and Poison-type Pokémon in raids. Players with an Elite Charged TM may also consider teaching it the powerful charged move, Psystrike.
