Pokémon Go trainers can now challenge both Mega Raichu Y and Mega Raichu X in Super Mega Raids, following their worldwide release during July 2026's Raichu Super Mega Raid Day event. While Mega Raichu Y stands out as a potent Electric-type attacker, Mega Raichu X serves primarily as a Pokédex completion objective.

Mega Raichu Y Raid Strategy

Mega Raichu Y boasts an impressive Attack stat, positioning it among the top Electric-type attackers in Pokémon Go when considering Mega Mewtwo X and Y. It ranks below Shadow Zekrom and Zeraora but above Shadow Raikou, Zekrom, and Xurkitree.

Mega Raichu Y Weaknesses and Counters

Mega Raichu Y is an Electric-type Pokémon. Its sole weakness is Ground-type attacks. Consequently, the most effective Mega counters are Mega Garchomp using Earth Power, followed by Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Mewtwo X. Other strong Mega Evolution options include Mega Rayquaza and Mega Swampert. Primal Groudon is not effective in this raid.

Non-Mega counters include Shadow Groudon, which is highly effective and closely followed by Shadow Garchomp and Shadow Excadrill. Therian Landorus, utilizing Sandsear Storm, is also a strong and accessible choice for many players. Other potent Ground-type attackers such as Shadow Incarnate Landorus and Shadow Rhyperior are also recommended.

To succeed in Super Mega Raids against Mega Raichu Y, it is highly recommended to participate with at least eight other trainers. While fewer trainers might be able to achieve victory with highly optimized teams, tackling this raid boss with a larger group is advisable. High-level trainers with optimal counters might manage with three to four similarly skilled friends.

Mega Raichu Y Stats and Moveset

Mega Raichu Y has a Raid CP of 73,407. Upon defeating Mega Raichu Y, players can catch a regular Raichu with a CP ranging from 1,193 to 1,247, or between 1,492 and 1,558 CP if caught during rainy weather. The recommended moveset for Mega Raichu Y is Thunder Shock as its Fast Move and Wild Charge as its Charged Move for maximum STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus).

Mega Raichu X Raid Strategy

In contrast to its counterpart, Mega Raichu X is noted for its lack of significant combat utility, serving mainly as a Pokédex entry. However, it is still a raid boss that trainers can challenge.

Mega Raichu X Weaknesses and Counters

Like Mega Raichu Y, Mega Raichu X is an Electric-type Pokémon with a sole weakness to Ground-type attacks. The best Mega counters are Mega Garchomp, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Mega Mewtwo X. Mega Swampert and Mega Rayquaza are also viable alternatives. Primal Groudon is not effective against Mega Raichu X.

The top non-Mega counters are Shadow Groudon, Shadow Garchomp, and Shadow Excadrill. Therian Landorus and Shadow Incarnate Landorus are also strong options. Beyond these, focusing on powerful Ground-type attackers like Shadow Mamoswine is advised.

Defeating Mega Raichu X in its Super Mega Raid will require a coordinated effort. It is recommended to team up with at least nine other trainers. While fewer players could potentially win with perfectly optimized teams, a larger group significantly increases the chances of success. High-level trainers with ideal counters might be able to defeat it with five or six allies.

Mega Raichu X Stats and Moveset

Mega Raichu X has a Raid CP of 68,168. Catching a regular Raichu after defeating Mega Raichu X will result in a CP between 1,193 and 1,247, or 1,492 to 1,558 CP in rainy weather. The recommended moveset for Mega Raichu X mirrors that of Mega Raichu Y: Thunder Shock (Fast Move) and Wild Charge (Charged Move) for optimal STAB.

Shiny Mega Raichu in Pokémon Go

Both shiny Mega Raichu Y and shiny Mega Raichu X are available in Pokémon Go. Shiny Raichu Y features a distinct coloration, reminiscent of Pikachu, with yellow fur and red cheeks, a nod to its original appearance in Pokémon Gold and Silver. Shiny Raichu X retains the standard Raichu coloring. Shiny Raichu was first introduced in 2017 alongside Pikachu and Pichu, shortly after the initial release of shiny Magikarp and shiny Gyarados.
