Season 14 of Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Ranked Battles is set to introduce a significant shift in gameplay, allowing only Flying-type Pokémon for the duration of the season. This change follows a period of evolving restrictions, with Season 12 removing all Pokémon limitations and Season 13 implementing a ban on legendary and mythical Pokémon.

The new season, commencing next week, will permit trainers to field Pokémon from both the base game's Pokédex and the Mega Dimension DLC's Pokédex, provided they meet the Flying-type requirement. Notable eligible Pokémon from the Lumiose Pokédex include Fletchling, Talonflame, Charizard, Dragonite, and Salamence. The Hyperspace Pokédex offers options such as Rookidee, Corviknight, Staraptor, and Golbat. Special consideration is given to legendary Pokémon, allowing only one of either Yveltal or Rayquaza to be included on a team.

As with previous seasons, all Pokémon participating in Ranked Battles will be automatically set to level 50 to ensure a level playing field. Battles are a four-trainer, real-time free-for-all, where players utilize teams of three Pokémon. Each knockout awards a point, and Mega Evolution remains a crucial mechanic for achieving victory.

Season 14 will also feature rewards in the form of various Mega Stones for players who achieve higher ranks. These include Greninjite, Delphoxite, Chesnaughtite, Baxcalibrite, Sceptilite, Swampertite, and Blazikenite, awarded for reaching ranks Y through S respectively.

The season is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 15, at 11:00 p.m. PDT and conclude on Wednesday, August 5, at 6:59 p.m. PDT. This Flying-type focus may offer a chance for trainers to utilize Pokémon previously overlooked in competitive play.
