Pokémon Pokopia has launched its substantial 2.0 update, adding a wealth of new features centered around underwater exploration and enhancing the overall player experience. This free update allows players to dive beneath the waves, discover new Pokémon, and construct homes in newly accessible oceanic environments.

The update introduces a "Dive" move, enabling free underwater movement, and the ability to build underwater houses. A variety of new customisation options have also been added, including new hair colors and a "dynamic Ditto print" pattern obtainable from Smearguru after acquiring a diploma. New emotes, "Lie Down" and "Ready, Set, Go!," are available from Bleak Beach and Dream Islands. Players can also unlock five new hair colors: orange, light pink, yellow-green, blue-green, and brown.

Quality-of-life improvements are a significant part of the 2.0 update. Players can now move items in bulk between their storage box and bag, delete items placed inside objects like garbage bins, and utilize improved tools for precise depth placement of building elements such as windows and doors. These additions aim to streamline the building and management aspects of the game.

Gameplay has also seen several enhancements. Lost Relics can now be appraised in batches of ten, and the "Rollout" move can destroy certain environmental objects. The "Strength" move is now usable underwater. Furthermore, if a Pokémon's habitat is destroyed, it will return if the same habitat is rebuilt nearby. Pokémon that were sad due to removed furniture will now react more quickly to its replacement, and Pokémon who taught players emotes will respond with those emotes when used. The Pokédex now allows travel to a Pokémon's town if it is located elsewhere via "Return Home." To improve clarity, ordinary conversation indicators have been reduced, making special Pokémon conversations and requests more prominent.

Additional gameplay improvements include the ability to perform "Paint, Gather Honey, and Collect" multiple times in a single interaction. Crafting will now prioritize materials from a storage box next to the workbench before using those in the bag. The placement limit for power generators has been doubled from 64 to 128, and the number of displayable photos in a town has increased from 10 to 40. When inhaling liquids, a short press of the move button will allow them to be held without immediate removal from the environment, and when releasing stored water, adjusted water levels now automatically match nearby levels. Smearguru can now learn patterns from photos stored in References, and visibility of the target item when painting has been improved. Treasure discoverable with the Dowsing Machine on Dream Islands has been increased. Pokémon companions can now follow players during moves like Surf, Glide, Rollout, or Magnet Rise. Inhaling items and opening the bag are now possible while rolling with Rollout, which can also destroy certain natural objects. Surf can now be activated on land by holding the focus button while pressing the Surf button, with improved activation conditions for Surf and Waterfall for smoother transitions. "Leafage" can now be used on farm soil to revert it to a normal soil block. "Strength" is now usable underwater. Both the Pokédex and Habitat Dex have gained an "All" tab. It is now clearer that buildings can be remodeled even with items attached to roofs or walls, and non-assigned Pokémon can assist with cooking during construction projects. Treasure in Sparkling Skylands will no longer appear when using the Dowsing Machine in locations where breaking terrain would cause them to fall. Messaging for insufficient materials for copying items using the 3D Printer has been improved. Items can now be placed on top of square plants, and hide-and-seek can be canceled mid-action. In-game event notifications at startup are now displayed only during specific remaining-day periods. Certain roof items now block water, and crafting curved eaves yields more output. Tidal Bell and Clear Bell can now be triggered using laser sensors and switches. Sound effects for the camping chair and sleeping bag have been adjusted, and performance for certain rendering processes has been improved.
