Giants Software and Straight4 Studios have released Project Motor Racing Update 2.1, a significant patch that includes a free downloadable content pack and major improvements to the racing simulation. The update brings a complete rebuild of the handling model for the GT3 and GT4 car classes, alongside new PC triple-screen support.
The free ‘Aussie Rivals’ pack introduces the 2013 Holden VF Commodore and a reworked 2013 Ford Falcon FG to the game, representing a notable era of Australian V8 Supercar racing. This marks the first time these specific Australian domestic models have appeared in the Gran Turismo series.
Update 2.1 focuses on broad enhancements across content, physics, online racing, immersion, and presentation. The overhaul of the GT4 and GT3 classes was led by Aristotelis Vasilakos, formerly of Assetto Corsa fame. The update also adds improved collision physics and various graphical enhancements. Logitech’s ‘Trueforce’ feedback is now enabled across all platforms.
Online functionality has also been streamlined. Players can now join supported online sessions after they have already commenced, eliminating the need to wait for a full server restart. Furthermore, participants registered for a ranked session will receive a notification when it is ready to join, allowing them to continue engaging with other parts of the game rather than remaining on the registration screen.
Kevin Boland, CEO of Straight4 Studios, stated that Update 2.1 is a direct result of community feedback and dedication. He highlighted the GT4 and GT3 overhaul, cleaner racing, improved online flow, and enhanced immersion features as key components of this update, which also serves as a thank you to the player base.
This latest update follows a previous major patch released in March, which aimed to establish a stronger foundation for Project Motor Racing as a serious motorsport simulation.
