Riftbound, Riot Games' League of Legends trading card game, is set to feature every champion from its MOBA counterpart, according to game director Dave Guskin. Speaking at Gen Con, Guskin expressed enthusiasm for the massive roster, stating that the more beloved characters available, the better it is for the game.

"I think eventually we will hit all the champions in League of Legends," Guskin said. "I think we'll probably revisit some, because we can find new ways to make a really cool Yasuo or a really cool Ahri that we didn't do before."

Riftbound has already implemented this approach, with a second playable version of Master Yi introduced in the game's third set, Unleashed. This version incorporates the XP mechanic familiar to League of Legends players. The team balances character selection for the TCG by considering both player popularity in the original game and how well a champion's abilities translate into card mechanics.

"It's a combination of, 'People love this from League of Legends, the PC game. We should try to acknowledge that and see if we can build something that really feels right,'" Guskin explained. He cited Zed as an example, whose shadow-copy abilities inspired a deck-building approach that proved successful.

While specific additions remain unannounced, Guskin confirmed that several highly anticipated champions are slated for future inclusion. He also hinted at exploring in-game relationships through set designs and revealed that Aurelion Sol will appear in the sixth and seventh sets. Riot Games is also rolling out its biannual "State of the Game" updates, which will detail upcoming changes, shifts in organized play, and the release roadmap for 2027.
