Riot Games has announced that active development for its tag-team fighting game, 2XKO, will conclude at the end of December 2026. The decision comes after the studio closely monitored the game's player trajectory, finding that it had not attracted enough sustained players to ensure a path toward long-term viability.
While active development ceases at the end of next year, Riot has committed to keeping the game's servers online for online play beyond 2026. Offline play will remain unaffected. The studio plans to introduce content and feature improvements throughout the remainder of 2026, including two new champions, Lux and Samira. A final bug fix patch is slated for December of this year, after which the servers will continue to support online play.
To acknowledge the players who have invested in 2XKO, Riot will be unlocking all champions and bundling most cosmetic items. Furthermore, all money spent in the game on or before August 20 will be refunded. Any content already owned by players will remain accessible, with avatar and player profile items becoming unlockable for Credits in patch 1.3.1, scheduled for September. Riot stated its current goal is to support existing players and honor the efforts of the development team.
