Snoozy Kazoo's upcoming RPG, Rizz Dungeon: Skeleton Key to My Heart, has been postponed from its original September 17 release date to sometime next year. The delay will allow the small, five-person studio to add more content and avoid crunch, according to an announcement.
The developer has seen unexpected success with their previous titles, Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion and Turnip Boy Robs a Bank. This increased revenue provides Snoozy Kazoo with the opportunity to develop Rizz Dungeon into the game they originally envisioned.
"This delay allows us to both add more content and avoid crunch," said Snoozy Kazoo founder and director Yukon Wainczak. "As a tiny studio of five people, there were quite a few features (and Monster Girls!) we were cutting in order to hit this September 17th release date, and we were starting to crunch to ensure this game was something we were proud of." Wainczak added that while the delay may be disappointing, it ensures a "better—and healthier made—Rizz Dungeon."
Rizz Dungeon is an RPG where players explore a dungeon to reclaim items from a dragon, who is also the protagonist's ex-girlfriend. The player character has invested all skill points into Charisma, necessitating charming their way through encounters until monster girls can be recruited to handle combat. The game's premise has been described as similar to Pokémon, but with collectible characters who are depicted as attractive. Makeshift for additional content and to avoid programmer burnout, the developer opted to push the release back to next year. The game was originally slated for a September 17 release but has been pushed back. Several other notable games, including The Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Silent Hill: Townfall, are also scheduled for September releases.
