Developer Robert Yang has spoken about the difficulties involved in releasing experimental gay games on Steam, citing the current climate for adult content creators. His collection of short, experimental gay games, "Radiator Forever," has recently been made available on Steam, in addition to its existing presence on Itch.io.

Yang explained in a blog post that adult game developers are contending with a complex landscape. Recent actions by payment processors and online-focused legislation in the UK have significantly complicated the distribution of games like "Radiator Forever" on major PC platforms. To access the game on Steam, users must be logged in, and in the UK, they are required to have a valid credit card for age verification. Furthermore, the game is not easily discoverable through Steam's search functionality and is geo-blocked in certain countries.

The developer detailed his reasoning for bringing the collection to Steam, despite the associated challenges. "Collective Shout/Visa/Mastercard/Stripe's anti-sexuality censorship campaign in 2025 forced Itch to delist/bury many NSFW games to avoid getting cut-off from virtually all online payment processing," Yang stated. He also pointed to the UK's Online Safety Act, which compelled Itch to geo-block the UK to avoid compliance with what he described as a "bad law." Yang noted that new anti-anonymity legislation is expected to increase the costs for websites to serve their users. While he continues to support Itch as an alternative, he acknowledged that Steam reaches a considerably larger audience.

Steam has classified "Radiator Forever" as containing "frequent nudity and sexual content." Yang argued that this classification effectively amounts to a "delisting/shadowban from 99% of the Steam user base." He contended that despite his efforts to avoid explicit content, Steam's content reviewers have flagged the game due to its "gay" nature. Yang also suggested a disparity in content freedom between major publishers and independent developers, referencing customizable genitals in titles like "Cyberpunk 2077" and "Baldur's Gate 3."

The "Radiator Forever" collection includes updates to the individual games, a completion percentage tracker for each segment, and a tag indicating when new content has been added.
