RuneScape: Dragonwilds has released a significant update that fundamentally revamps the Agility skill, introducing new movement mechanics and challenging obstacle courses. The update aims to make traversing the game world more dynamic and engaging for players.
Key to the Agility revamp is the addition of new movement abilities. Players can now unlock a horizontal dash, allowing for quick movement across gaps and treacherous terrain. At higher levels, a second dash becomes available, further streamlining travel. Passive experience is now granted simply by running around on foot, integrating skill progression into general exploration. To mitigate the risk of falls, the update reduces fall damage and introduces a new breakfall mechanic, enabling players to perform a roll upon landing to maintain momentum.
Beyond these core mechanical changes, the update incorporates other Agility-focused additions. Windstep has been moved from a Runecrafting reward to an Agility spell. Players can now unearth Kebbit Burrows, which serve as convenient shortcuts throughout the Dragonwilds map. Jump height and aerial control have been improved, and as players level up their Agility skill, they will consume less stamina while sprinting and gain increased carrying capacity.
The update also introduces six new Wipeout-style obstacle courses. These courses feature leaderboards, allowing players to compete against friends and track their progress. Successfully completing these courses within gold medal times will reward players with displayable medals and gold-trimmed versions of regional capes. The courses are described as having a playful, almost viral aesthetic, fitting within RuneScape's established fantasy setting. The Agility update is now live in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
