Rust is set to host its fourth annual Global Warfare event from July 30 to August 2, developer Facepunch announced alongside a new cinematic trailer. This year's event, organized by FancyOrb, will feature popular streamers and YouTubers portraying different regions of a recreated Earth, engaging in Player vs. Player combat and role-playing scenarios. Participants will aim to achieve prosperity through diplomacy, manipulation, or conflict.
Viewers can follow the event through their favorite content creators' channels or watch FancyOrb's official Twitch stream for an overview. The event will also offer Twitch Drops, allowing players to earn four free Global Warfare skins: a gravitating locker, an auto turret, a vending machine, and a wooden door.
The event map is a detailed recreation of Earth, featuring iconic locations such as Mount Everest, the Amazon rainforest, and the Nile River. It also includes notable landmarks like multiple oil drills in the Middle East, lush greenery in Hawaii, train systems for global travel, and radiation-riddled nuke craters from past events. An overhead view of the map is available on the official Global Warfare website, enabling participants to plan their strategies and base locations. FancyOrb has also released videos showcasing specific areas of the map to build anticipation.
The extensive planning evident in the map's design suggests an engaging experience for players, whether they are drawn to the role-playing, player-versus-player combat, or the inherent drama of the event. Following the live event, a comprehensive video will be released on YouTube in a movie format, allowing fans to follow the complete storyline.
