Marvel Studios has officially slated Ryan Gosling's Ghost Rider film for a July 28, 2028 release. This announcement places the supernatural superhero's solo movie as the second MCU film to debut in 2028, following the rebooted X-Men movie.
The X-Men film is set to arrive in theaters on May 5, 2028. Both films will be released after the significant events of "Avengers: Doomsday" in December 2027 and "Avengers: Secret Wars" in December 2027, which are expected to reshape the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Ghost Rider will be directed by Shawn Levy, who also helmed "Deadpool & Wolverine." Details regarding which iteration of Ghost Rider Gosling will portray remain undisclosed, as the character has had multiple prominent versions in Marvel Comics, including Johnny Blaze and the Robbie Reyes seen in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
The July release date continues a trend of Marvel Studios finding success with films premiering in that month, including "Deadpool & Wolverine" in 2024, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" in 2025, and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" in the current year.
Marvel's 2028 slate also includes "Black Panther 3," scheduled for December 15, 2028. This film will feature David Jonsson as T'Challa's son, with Letitia Wright and Winston Duke reprising their roles as Shuri and M'Baku, respectively. The studio has also penciled in an untitled film for November 9, 2029, though its identity is currently unknown.
