The wait for new A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) novels is nearing its end, as author Sarah J. Maas has confirmed the titles and release dates for the next two books in the series. The sixth installment, "A Court of Splintered Harmony," is slated for release on October 27, 2026, followed by "A Court of Forgotten Melody" on January 12, 2027. These books will kick off "The Valkyrie Cycle," a new storyline that continues the ACOTAR saga.
Maas unveiled the titles and accompanying covers via Instagram, with accompanying digital billboards appearing in major cities including Los Angeles, Denver, and New York City. She previously discussed the narrative structure of these upcoming novels on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, explaining they would function as a single, extended story rather than a conventional trilogy. "A Court of Splintered Harmony" will present the first part of this larger narrative, while "A Court of Forgotten Melody" will encompass the second and third parts. A third, as-yet-untitled book is planned to conclude the storyline.
Teasing the themes of the new books, Maas shared that "A Court of Splintered Harmony" carries the line, "What was broken will be remade," and "A Court of Forgotten Melody" promises, "What was lost will be reclaimed." Publisher descriptions indicate that Koschei the Deathless will be the primary antagonist across both novels. The influence of Koschei is expected to begin spreading through the Fae territories as Prythian grapples with the aftermath of the Hybern War. Internal conflicts within the Night Court are anticipated to hinder a unified response to this growing threat.
By the time of "A Court of Forgotten Melody," existing alliances are projected to further deteriorate. The Inner Circle of the Night Court will reportedly be dispersed as they seek an advantage against Koschei and his associates. Old adversaries are also expected to re-emerge, making the prospect of peace increasingly precarious. Maas has not yet disclosed the central characters for these forthcoming books, leaving a significant question for fans to ponder. Both titles are currently available for preorder through major retailers.
