Scott Pilgrim EX has received a significant content update today, introducing new paid downloadable content and a free game-wide update. The paid DLC, priced at $3.99, adds Knives Chau, Kim Pine, and Stephen Stills as playable characters. While these characters are present in the game's story mode, this marks their debut as playable fighters.
Knives Chau's combat style features her signature knives, including a screen-spanning corkscrew attack. Kim Pine utilizes her drumsticks to conjure purple magical energy and projectiles, augmented by bats. Stephen Stills engages enemies with his fists and acoustic guitar, capable of unleashing a reverberating microphone attack that affects a wide area. The DLC also includes three new support characters: Hollie, who uses a remote to generate a damage-dealing volume bar; Mr. Chau, who creates shadow clones to assist the player; and Joseph, who summons a large speaker to blast enemies with noise.
Complementing the paid content is a free update titled "Coin-Op Chaos," which adds an Arcade Mode to all versions of Scott Pilgrim EX. This new mode is inspired by classic arcade brawlers, streamlining progression, and incorporating elements such as lives, credits, score chasing, and local rankings. Arcade Mode offers players a new way to replay the game and enables cross-platform online co-op.
In addition to the new content, Scott Pilgrim EX is currently available at a 20% discount until September 9. The game is accessible on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
