Sega has announced dates and sign-up details for a closed network test of its upcoming game, Crazy Taxi: World Tour. This test will allow select players to experience two of the game's online multiplayer modes prior to its 2027 launch.

The network test is scheduled to run from September 11 at 5 p.m. PDT to September 13 at 5 p.m. PDT. It will feature two distinct online modes: Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies. Pickup Race allows up to six players to compete for the highest earnings by completing passenger drop-offs within a time limit. Cops ‘N’ Cabbies pits six players, divided into three teams of two, against each other in a race, presumably while evading law enforcement.

The test will include two maps, four characters, and six cars equipped with various customization options. Cross-play will be supported across PlayStation 5, Windows PC via Steam, and Xbox Series X.

Players interested in participating can register for the network test on the official Crazy Taxi: World Tour website until August 31 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

In addition to the network test announcement, Sega also released a new trailer showcasing the game's West Coast map, a rendition of San Francisco. The trailer offers a calmer look at the game compared to previous reveals, featuring new passengers and glimpses of officially licensed businesses like IHOP and Amoeba Music. While the presence of other past licensed brands like Pizza Hut or Tower Records remains unconfirmed, Sega has stated that each in-game location will feature regional retailers and restaurants.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour is slated for release in 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
