Sega is auctioning a real-life Dark Rider motorcycle, featured in the recent Sonic 3 movie, with all proceeds going to charity. The vehicle was created as part of Sega's '2024 Fearless: Year of Shadow' campaign to promote the antihero's appearance in the film.
Manufactured by Bourget's Bike Works in collaboration with Sega and other partners, the motorcycle sports Shadow's signature red-and-black color scheme and iconic symbol. While it differs from the movie's on-screen bike, it serves as a notable piece of memorabilia. The bike is equipped with a 1,750cc S&S Super Stock engine and an Ultimate six-speed gearbox, though it is not currently operational due to a dummy fuel tank requiring significant modification.
The auction is being held by vehicle auction service Bonhams as part of The Autumn Stafford Sale on October 10-11, 2026. The funds raised will benefit the Luca Guintoli Foundation, a nonprofit established in honor of Sylvain Guintoli's late son, Luca, who passed away from cancer. The foundation aims to support the physical and mental health of children with cancer or autism in England and Wales through financial aid, education, and practical assistance.
Sega gifted the motorcycle to the foundation after its promotional activities concluded. According to Bonhams, this marks the first time Sega has put a piece of memorabilia directly up for auction, presenting collectors with an opportunity to acquire a unique item while supporting a charitable cause. Sega has been promoting the auction through its social media channels, including an interview with Sylvain Guintoli and Sega Senior Partnerships Manager Aaron Kirby.
This is not the first time the Sonic franchise has been involved with the Luca Guintoli Foundation. In April 2026, Sylvain Guintoli completed the London Marathon dressed in a racing suit featuring the Sonic character, setting a world record for running in motorcycle leathers.
