Sega president Shuji Utsumi has stated that the company remains interested in physical games but is prioritizing digital offerings to capitalize on the growing PC market, particularly in regions where digital access is more prevalent than consoles. In an interview with Famitsu, Utsumi acknowledged the global shift towards digital titles for both consoles and PCs.

While consoles remain important, Utsumi noted an increase in PC players. He also pointed out that many regions lack easy access to consoles, whereas PC accessibility is broader. To develop this market further, Sega intends to strengthen its digital products. This strategy is also driven by a desire to become more global, acknowledging that while Japan has a strong physical media culture, digital content is essential for international growth.

Despite the focus on digital and PC, Sega maintains a "fondness for physical culture" due to its history in physical media production and console development. The company is therefore aiming to balance its current digital strategy with considerations for physical elements. Sega's major releases have consistently arrived on PC, indicating the platform's significance to the company's overall strategy.
