Fans of DreamWorks Animation can now step onto the virtual pitch with some of their favorite characters from the Shrek franchise, as they have been added to the soccer game FIFA Heroes. The crossover brings Shrek, Fiona, Puss in Boots, Gingy, Pinocchio, and Lord Farquaad into the game as playable characters. This surprising addition was met with amusement, with one player noting the unique experience of watching Shrek cross the ball to Lionel Messi, who then passes to Puss in Boots for a goal.
However, this collaboration is a temporary event. The Shrek characters will only be available for players to control until August 10. The crossover launched shortly after FIFA Heroes' release on June 24 and coincides with the 25th anniversary of the first Shrek film. The Shrek franchise is slated to continue with Shrek 5, which is planned for release in June 2027.
