Despite these additions, several iconic characters could further elevate the season.
Potential Additions for Fortnite
The selection of characters for Fortnite often considers their compatibility with the game's world, where players engage in combat to achieve victory. This approach excludes characters from franchises like Nintendo's Mario or Zelda, whose natures don't easily align with wielding modern weaponry.
The Last of Us
Joel and Ellie, the protagonists from Naughty Dog's acclaimed survival horror series, are prime candidates. Their expertise in combating infected would fit seamlessly into Fortnite's "Save the World" mode and even complement the annual "Fortnitemares" Halloween event. Cosmetic ideas include skins for both characters and Ellie's iconic guitar as a back bling or pickaxe.
Metroid
While many Nintendo franchises are deemed too family-friendly for Fortnite, the Metroid series, with its more recent "T for Teen" ratings, presents an exception. Samus Aran, the series' iconic bounty hunter, could be a compelling skin. Additionally, her archenemy, Ridley, would make for an imposing glider.
Conker
Rare's Conker the Squirrel, known for his mature-themed games, presents a unique challenge. Despite his cuddly appearance, Conker's games are filled with violence and foul language, which might deter Epic Games. However, if implemented, Conker could be a shorter sidekick character, while his associates Berri and Panther King could serve as skins. Carl "CJ" Johnson from the original Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, potentially in a low-poly style, would be a distinct choice. Other possibilities include skins for Niko Bellic or a bundle featuring Michael, Franklin, and Trevor.
Hitman
Agent 47, the stoic assassin from the Hitman franchise, is another strong contender. His ability to don various disguises throughout his games would lend itself to multiple alternative styles for a Fortnite skin, from his classic suit to more outlandish costumes. A briefcase back bling or pickaxe would also be fitting.
Mass Effect
The Mass Effect series, with its rich lore and beloved characters, has significant potential. Commander Shepard, with options for both male and female variants, along with allies like Garrus, Wrex, Tali, and Liara, could all make excellent skins. A Reaper glider would also be a striking addition, especially given the uncertain future of the franchise.
