Slay the Spire 2 has rolled out a significant update on its Steam beta branch, introducing 15 potent new cards tailored for its co-operative multiplayer mode. These additions span all five of the game's distinct classes, aiming to enhance the collaborative deck-building and combat experience.
The update includes a new colorless card, two specific cards for the Regent class, and three cards each for the remaining four classes: Ironclad, Silent, Necrobinder, and Defect. Several existing cards have also undergone reworkings.
Among the new additions for Ironclad is Midnight, a rare attack card dealing 99 damage (120 when upgraded) that costs 12 energy, but reduces its cost by one for each card Exhausted by any player during the current battle. Blaze grants another player 5 strength (7 upgraded), and Outrage offers a zero-energy attack that deals 9 damage (13 upgraded) while adding a copy of itself to every other player's discard pile. The Tank card has been rebalanced, now causing the caster to take only 50% additional damage in exchange for allies receiving 50% less damage.
Silent gains Blade Symphony, which provides all allies with two shivs (three upgraded). Concoct allows another player's attacks to inflict poison, and Fade is a retainable card that grants an ally 6 Dexterity (9 upgraded) for the current turn. The rarity of Silent's Flanking card has been increased from Uncommon to Rare.
Regent receives Plot, enabling all players to draw two extra cards next turn (three upgraded), and Constellation, which grants an ally energy, a new card, and 9 Block (12 upgraded).
Necrobinder's new cards include Underworld, an Exhaustible card that applies Doom based on the amount of attack damage other players inflict in a turn. Soulbound adds a Soul to an ally's draw pile whenever a Soul card is created by the player. Cacophony deals 66 damage (99 upgraded) to a random enemy for every 33 cards drawn collectively by all players. Legion of Bone is no longer an Exhaustible card.
Defect's new cards are Hibernate, which channels frost to provide Block for allied players; One For All, adding three damage (four upgraded) to all players' zero-energy attack cards; and Imitation Learning, an exhaustible card that plays copies of a target player's next two power cards (three upgraded). Ignition's rarity has been decreased to Uncommon.
Finally, the new colorless card, The Ball, bounces to a random ally's pile each time it's played and increases its own damage by 15 (25 upgraded) for the duration of combat.
These multiplayer-focused additions arrive alongside balancing adjustments for solo players, bug fixes, UI tweaks, and improved support for transferring save data between modded and unmodded game installations. Progress made in modded saves will remain separate from unmodded saves, and vice versa.
The beta update is expected to transition to the main Steam branch soon.
