Sony has officially launched a new Live TV on PS5 feature, offering a free, ad-supported television experience to users in the United States. The service, detailed in a PlayStation.Blog post, provides access to more than 100 live channels and a growing selection of on-demand entertainment.
Players can access the Live TV feature by navigating to the console's Media tab and selecting "Live TV on PS5" while logged into a PlayStation Network account. Sony confirmed that the service is completely free, requiring no subscription, hidden fees, or additional downloads.
The content library includes a diverse range of programming. Movies are available from channels like MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits, and Cinevault.TV. Television series such as Community, The Shield, Hell’s Kitchen, The Walking Dead, and Forensic Files are also featured, alongside shows like Unsolved Mysteries, Deal or No Deal USA, Fear Factor, and Ice Road Truckers.
Anime fans can enjoy titles including Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, and Death Note, with exclusive channels for Black Clover and Crunchyroll box sets. Sports programming is provided by FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now, and UFC, covering MMA, football, hockey, motorsports, golf, boxing, and soccer. News and weather updates are available through NBC News Now, Fox Weather, and LiveNOW from FOX.
The service also includes creator-led content from channels like Hot Ones, The Ringer, and Futcrunch, covering gaming, esports, comedy, and action sports. Additional programming includes documentaries, podcasts, and specialty content like the exclusive eCLUTCH.
Sony stated that Live TV on PS5 will be regularly updated with new programming and channels. While currently exclusive to the U.S., the company is planning to expand the service to Canada and other regions in the future.
This announcement follows a busy week for Sony, which also revealed plans for two back-to-back PlayStation State of Play presentations, the first of which will feature more on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
