PlayStation 5 users are now experiencing a custom Grand Theft Auto VI user interface, marking an expansion of Sony's partnership with Rockstar Games. The PS5's welcome section now displays an animated GTA 6 logo that transitions into a splash screen, offering details about the game and a direct link to its store page for pre-orders.

This UI update coincides with the official launch of GTA 6 pre-orders and the commencement of Sony's marketing campaign, which emphasizes that the game "plays best on PS5." Earlier, Sony had highlighted console-specific features that GTA 6 will leverage, such as the DualSense controller's speaker and haptic feedback capabilities, in a blog post. Notably, social media posts promoting this blog initially featured an image of the PS5's disc-based edition but were later updated to show the digital-only console, aligning with the fact that GTA 6 will not include a physical disc.

Further integrating GTA 6 branding, the PlayStation app on smartphones now sports a themed version of its logo, incorporating GTA 6's color palette and imagery of pale tree fronds.

Sony has positioned the release of GTA 6 as a compelling reason for existing PS4 users to upgrade to the PS5, as the title will be exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar has also facilitated console transitions by offering free upgrades from PS4 and Xbox One copies of GTA 5 to their PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. Recent announcements regarding GTA 6 include its pricing, a $100 Ultimate Edition, the release of 63 new screenshots, and confirmation about the absence of discs in physical game copies.
