Concept art has surfaced online for Sony's abandoned Sinister Six movie, revealing a vision for Spider-Man far from his native New York City. In the mid-2010s, Sony pursued a cinematic universe built around Spider-Man characters to rival the MCU, which included plans for films beyond sequels to The Amazing Spider-Man, such as a Venom movie and the Sinister Six project.

Drew Goddard, known for his work on Netflix's Daredevil series, was slated to direct The Sinister Six. Early indications suggested a high-profile cast, with Sony reportedly pursuing actors like Daniel Craig and Matthew McConaughey. The film's intended tone seemed to lean towards the anti-hero focus seen in Suicide Squad, where Spider-Man would confront a group of villains with potentially redeemable qualities. However, the project was ultimately canceled following Sony's significant data breach in 2014.

Throughout its development, plot details for the film varied. One proposed storyline would have transported the narrative to Marvel's Savage Land, a dangerous prehistoric island populated by unique species and mutated creatures. Leaked emails indicated that the Sinister Six movie would feature elements of time travel and dinosaurs, with at least a portion of the film set on this island. This concept is further supported by new artwork from artist Victor Martinez, which depicts Spider-Man falling towards the island amidst missile-like projectiles. Martinez has indicated that the art, despite featuring the MCU Spider-Man logo, was created years ago for the Sinister Six film.

While the revival of this particular film project appears unlikely given the current success of Sony and Marvel's collaborative Spider-Man movies, the revealed concept art offers a glimpse into a uniquely ambitious and potentially outlandish direction for a Spider-Man villain-centric story.
