Digital Extremes has unveiled details for Soulframe's next significant update, codenamed "Warsong," which is set to launch later this year. The update will introduce a new questline, expanding the game's narrative with a primary antagonist named Tempest Baylor, voiced by Ben Starr.
The Warsong Fable quest will offer players insight into their character's tragic past and the nature of their blue-armed Envoy powers, while also exploring the origins of the antagonistic Ode faction dwelling in the clouds. This narrative expansion is a core component of the upcoming content.
New Pact and Abilities
Warsong will also feature the corrupted Vadagar pact, which functions as a new class within Soulframe. This pact is described as an "edgelord pact," characterized by "dastardly abilities" and new virtues aligned with the deities of Wrath, Doom, and Death. Developers have humorously referred to the overall update as Soulframe's equivalent of "our Spider-Man 3."
Mounts and Fishing Mechanics
In response to player requests, the Warsong update will incorporate rideable mounts. Players will be able to traverse the world on giant wolves and a corrupted horse, with promises of more mount options to come.
Additionally, a "vegan" fishing mini-game will be added. This feature is named "vegan" because players are intended to release the fish they catch back into the water, aligning with the game's themes of nature preservation.
Availability and Testing
The Warsong update, along with the new mounts, is slated for a "Fallish" release. Players interested in experiencing the game prior to the full launch can sign up for the ongoing Preludes test. Those who register before July 12 are guaranteed access to the current build and future updates.
Soulframe is currently in a closed beta phase, with no firm release date announced for its 1.0 launch. Despite this, the game has consistently received substantial updates since its initial reveal.
