Insomniac Games has released a free update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, adding two new suits for Peter Parker. The update coincides with the theatrical release of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie and the upcoming launch of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls.
One of the new suits is inspired by Peter Parker's appearance in the Brand New Day film. The other is a cel-shaded design mirroring his look in the Marvel Tōkon fighting game. This latter suit features a stark contrast between its comic-book-like aesthetic and the photorealistic graphics of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
Initial player reports suggest that the Brand New Day suit exhibits some visual glitches, with Peter Parker's hair appearing to protrude through the mask in certain scenes. Additionally, inconsistencies in the suit's blue coloration have been noted. The Tōkon-inspired suit also presents a noticeable visual juxtaposition, particularly when Peter unmasks, revealing his character model within the stylized costume.
This is not the first time Insomniac has integrated movie-themed suits into its Spider-Man titles, a move that aligns with Marvel's strategy for cross-promotional synergy. Future collaborations are also planned, with Wolverine set to receive a costume based on his appearance in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls upon that game's launch in September.
The update, version 1.005.000, also brings support for Enhanced PSSR on the PlayStation 5 Pro and introduces a Power Saver mode.
