A significant leak of Spider-Man: Brand New Day saw a high-quality pirated copy of the film distributed across X (formerly Twitter) before Sony could remove it. The unauthorized posting reportedly reached an audience of 5.9 million X accounts, accumulating over 143,000 likes and more than 10,000 reshares before being taken down.

According to Variety, user Fredrick Bryan initially posted the film, allowing viewers to watch it and discover its plot points for several hours. While IGN has not found reuploads of the full movie, traces of the leak and short segments revealing major plot developments have been found on the platform. Many posts displaying these clips now show a message stating, "this media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner."

Some users on X reported that their viewing of the film was abruptly stopped, while others lamented missing the chance to download the leaked movie before its removal. Some users confirmed seeing at least the initial portion of the film, with others claiming they were able to watch nearly the entire runtime.

This incident follows a similar leak involving Christopher Nolan's recent film, The Odyssey, which was posted on X as a three-hour bootleg last weekend. Universal Pictures, in response to that leak, issued a statement to Variety: "We became aware of the unauthorized posting of the film and immediately initiated takedown protocols. We take copyright infringement seriously and will pursue all appropriate remedies to protect our content and intellectual property rights."

Sony has not yet commented on whether it plans further action regarding the Spider-Man: Brand New Day leak. The film was released in theaters on July 31, 2026. IGN awarded the film a 7/10 review, and it generated $72 million in box office previews. Sony has also been working to combat leaks related to the film's post-credits scene.
