GSC Game World has announced that Stalker 2: Cost of Hope, the game's first major expansion, is set to launch on August 20 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The expansion will feature dozens of hours of new content, including new allies and enemies, additional weapons, and previously unseen locations within the dangerous Zone. Players will once again step into the shoes of protagonist Skif, who will be pursuing a mysterious PDA signal amidst escalating conflict between the Zone's Duty and Freedom factions.
The launch of Stalker 2: Cost of Hope will coincide with the release of Update 2.0 for the base game. This free update will incorporate a new version of Unreal Engine 5, alongside various other improvements and new content. The expansion promises a substantial amount of gameplay, offering a significant reason for players to return to the post-apocalyptic world.
Stalker 2 initially released on PC before expanding to Xbox Series X|S and later PlayStation 5. Reviewing the base game, it was noted that while it may not reinvent established mechanics, its adherence to the core Stalker experience contributes to its unique charm and identity.
