Star Wars Zero Company, the upcoming tactical game from developer Bit Reactor, is set to offer players a focused experience, with an estimated main story campaign length of 30 to 40 hours. Lead producer Caydence Funk stated in a recent Discord Q&A that this playtime is dependent on the chosen difficulty level and the player's familiarity with the strategy genre.

The game is designed as a linear experience, eschewing branching narrative paths and romance options between operatives. This design choice means there will be limited incentive for players to replay the campaign once they have completed their initial journey through the Clone Wars era.

Further reinforcing its singular playthrough focus, Star Wars Zero Company will not include a New Game+ mode. While Funk mentioned that players will unlock certain customization options on subsequent playthroughs, the absence of a dedicated New Game+ suggests these unlocks might be tied to post-campaign progression rather than a full reset.

The developer has also confirmed that there will be no official mod support for the game. This decision, combined with the linear structure and lack of New Game+, positions Zero Company as a distinct offering compared to other tactical titles like XCOM 2, which, despite its tactical choices, allowed for more player agency and replayability, especially with its expansions.

This approach may appeal to players looking for a more curated and less time-intensive tactical experience, potentially differentiating it from games like Midnight Suns, which featured extensive relationship development and numerous optional diversions. Star Wars Zero Company is slated for release on August 27.
