Actor Stephen Root has achieved a unique distinction within the Grand Theft Auto franchise, becoming the second actor with an Emmy Award to lend their voice to a GTA game. Root, whose involvement in Grand Theft Auto 6 was recently confirmed after fans identified his voice as the drug runner Brian Heder, won his first Emmy on September 14 for his performance in the Apple TV+ series "Widow's Bay." This achievement places him in elite company, as James Woods was the first actor to achieve this milestone. Woods, who voiced Mike Toreno in 2004's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, has won two Primetime Emmy Awards. He also received a Daytime Emmy for his portrayal of Hades in Disney's animated "Hercules" series.

While Rockstar Games has not officially detailed the cast for Grand Theft Auto 6, Root's confirmation of his role as Brian Heder adds a notable name to the game's voice ensemble. Root won his Primetime Emmy in the category of Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for "Widow's Bay," where he plays the central character Wyck. The series also stars Matthew Rhys.

In related Emmy news, Prime Video's "Fallout" television series, which garnered 10 nominations, secured two awards: Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes and Outstanding Production Design.
