Tomorrow, July 8th, marks the release of Subnautica 2's first significant update since its launch, bringing a wave of promised improvements designed to enhance player experience. The patch addresses creature behavior, early-game exploration, and overall game systems.
Players can expect an increased number of biolabs scattered throughout the early game, offering more opportunities to find and equip Biomods. A new tool, currently unnamed to avoid spoilers, will allow players to scan creatures, unlocking additional passive biomod slots.
Enhancements to Creature Interaction
The update places a considerable focus on creature interactions. Creature flinch responses have been improved, providing players with clearer feedback when using their survival multi-tool. This aims to make combat and creature mitigation feel more impactful. Additionally, creatures will now enter stunned states when affected by the sonic resonator. The transition from passive to aggressive behavior for blight creatures has also been refined to reduce player surprise during encounters.
World and UI Improvements
Exploration and interface usability are also receiving attention. Wreck sites have been updated with minor puzzle additions and a greater sense of cohesion. The PDA interface is set to become more intuitive, featuring improved categorization, UI adjustments, and the ability to replay audio logs. Voice-over prioritization will ensure that more critical lines take precedence over queued audio. A new personal storage buildable option is also being introduced, alongside other minor fixes and features detailed in the full patch notes upon the update's release.
