Rebel Wolves has unveiled the graphical performance modes for its anticipated RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, confirming that no console version will achieve a 60 frames per second framerate at launch. The game is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on September 3.

Console players will experience different visual and performance options. On the PlayStation 5 Pro, the available modes are Quality, targeting Dynamic 4K at 30fps, and Balanced, aiming for Dynamic 4K at 40fps. The base PlayStation 5 offers the same modes: Quality at 30fps and Balanced at 40fps, both in Dynamic 4K. Similarly, the Xbox Series X will feature Quality mode at Dynamic 4K and 30fps, and Balanced mode at Dynamic 4K and 40fps. Information regarding performance on the Xbox Series S has not yet been provided.

The decision to cap console performance at a maximum of 40fps has led to disappointment among some players. Social media reactions indicate that a portion of the fanbase is reconsidering their platform choice, opting for PC to potentially achieve a smoother experience. The precise swordplay central to The Blood of Dawnwalker's combat mechanics makes framerate a crucial element for gameplay, and the absence of a 60fps option on consoles, even with more powerful hardware like the PS5 Pro, has been met with surprise.

It remains to be seen if future patches will enable higher framerates post-launch. This revelation comes just weeks before the game's release and may influence purchasing decisions for some players looking for the most fluid gameplay experience.

This discussion around console performance echoes broader conversations in the gaming community, notably concerning upcoming titles like Grand Theft Auto VI, where framerate capabilities are also a significant point of interest for players ahead of its expected release.
