Bethesda is offering free PC copies of The Elder Scrolls Online to purchasers of Travis Baldree's new fantasy novel, "Brigands & Breadknives." This promotion is available with the paperback release of the third entry in Baldree's "Legends & Lattes" series and is being handled through a partnership with UK publisher Tor.
The Elder Scrolls Online, which has been running for approximately 12 years, typically retails for around £15.99 on Steam. It was recently available for £3.99 as part of Bethesda's 40th Anniversary sale.
Free PC codes for the MMORPG are included in all printed copies of "Brigands & Breadknives" available at major UK bookstores, including Waterstones and Foyles, as well as independent shops. Online retailers such as Amazon are also participating, with the paperback priced at approximately £10 or £8.49 respectively. The promotion applies to the entire first print run of the novel.
Participating bookstores are also distributing branded bookmarks that contain a secondary code. This code unlocks an exclusive "Pink Torchbug" pet for use within The Elder Scrolls Online. To claim the game, readers must enter the codes printed on a sticker via Tor's redemption page. The offer is limited to the first 10,000 sign-ups.
Tor described the collaboration as a venture for "cosy fantasy book lovers and gamers," encouraging a transition from Baldree's narrative into the world of Tamriel. The Elder Scrolls Online remains a significant ongoing title for Bethesda and Xbox, consistently receiving expansions and content updates, and attracting new players through sales and subscription services. Recent reports have also reassured players that the game will continue to be supported despite broader layoffs within Xbox.
