Aesir Interactive has released the Corruption Update for its 13th-century Mongolian courier simulator, The Legend of Khiimori. This update introduces a new supernatural threat known as 'Savdag-un khor,' or 'poison of the earth spirit,' which is now spreading across the game's world.

This new force manifests as purple patches and corrupted zones that alter the environment and spawn new, hostile creatures called Knots and Gnarls. Players will need to contend with these threats while continuing their courier duties, utilizing new tools such as cleansing arrows and warding totems to combat the corruption. The update also expands survival mechanics and introduces new frontiers to explore.

In addition to the new environmental hazards and enemies, The Legend of Khiimori has also received a new horse breed, the Breton. Described by Aesir Interactive as their "largest and strongest" to date, the Breton is likely intended as a high-tier mount for players who master the game's challenges.

The Corruption Update shifts The Legend of Khiimori from its previously described focus on peaceful delivery across plains to include more hostile environments and supernatural combat. This addition offers a new layer of challenge to the game's established delivery gameplay loop.
