An update titled The Mongolian Expanse has launched for The Legend of Khiimori, expanding the game's explorable map with new biomes and adding a variety of gameplay features. The update introduces frosty mountain ranges and scorching desert landscapes, each offering unique challenges and points of interest including waystations, Yam nodes, and bandit caches.

Players venturing into the new mountain regions will encounter cold, difficult climbing conditions and hostile wolves, while the desert poses a threat with extreme heat for both the player and their mounts. These environmental challenges are reminiscent of mechanics seen in games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, where temperature extremes act as a gameplay obstacle.

The expansion also brings new wildlife to the game, such as wild boars, gobi bears, and camels. A new horse breed, the Marwari, has been added. Described as "built for endurance and especially resistant to heat," this breed is presented as an ideal companion for traversing the demanding desert environments. Additionally, over 60 new horse skills have been introduced, with some specific to particular regions and breeds.

This update is noted as the first part of a larger expansion, with further additions planned for the mountainous and desert areas. A comprehensive list of all changes, tweaks, and fixes included in the update can be found on the game's Steam news page.
