Nintendo has unveiled gameplay footage for the highly anticipated remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time during its 40th-anniversary Direct presentation. The remake is slated for release on November 5th for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Producer Eiji Aonuma guided viewers through a demonstration that highlights a largely faithful adaptation of the classic third-person adventure. Key enhancements include Link's ability to jump manually and the game's transition to a new engine, bringing updated visuals to the beloved title. Classic sound effects and animations, such as the iconic chest opening sequence, have been meticulously recreated with a modern aesthetic.
A notable new feature allows players to interact with Link's ocarina using their microphone. Players can hum, whistle, or sing the required melodies to trigger in-game events, adding an innovative layer to the musical puzzles.
The presentation also detailed advancements in the game's audio. Cutscenes will be fully voiced, and a theme song for the remake will be added to the Nintendo Music platform. Furthermore, a companion app called 'Zelda Notes' will be available, enabling players to capture screenshots, undertake mini-quests for rewards, and engage with an ocarina music feature to compose tracks, alongside a quiz.
Two new amiibo figures for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake were also announced. These figures will unlock in-game masks for Link, further enhancing the player's customization options.
