Nintendo marked the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series with a special Nintendo Direct presentation, revealing a variety of new content and celebrating the franchise's legacy.

The centerpiece of the announcement was the full reveal of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for the Switch 2. The remake features a new visual style described as moody and misty, aiming for a fairytale aesthetic. Gameplay enhancements include a manual jump function and the ability to hum ocarina tunes into the Switch 2's microphone for in-game use. The game will also support Zelda Notes on the Switch 2 app and is set to release on November 5.

Accompanying the remake are new amiibo figures based on Young Link and Young Zelda from the game, scheduled for release later this year. Additionally, a special Zelda-themed edition of the Switch 2 console will be available on October 29. This edition boasts Link-green Joy-Cons and a Triforce-inspired golden triangular design, along with a matching Pro Controller and carry case.

Fans of the series' music will have the opportunity to experience it live through a worldwide orchestral tour. Kicking off in Tokyo, Japan, on January 23, the tour will extend to North America, Europe, and Australia, with a UK date set for April 3 in London.

The upcoming live-action Zelda movie, slated for release on April 30 next year, received a mention. While no first trailer was shown, it was confirmed that the film will not feature a subtitle. The cast includes Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda, and Sam Neill. The film's director Shigeru Miyamoto stated that more details will be revealed closer to its cinematic debut.
