Magic: The Gathering's 2026 season has already delivered a diverse range of sets, including returns to fan-favorite planes like Lorwyn and crossover events featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Marvel's Avengers. Amidst these releases, several cards have emerged as particularly valuable, according to data from TCGplayer.
The most expensive card identified so far is Emeritus of Ideation, a retro-frame, serial-numbered version from the Secrets of Strixhaven set, valued at $3,000. This card features a powerful 'Prepared' spell and a 5/5 creature with flying and ward 2.
Another high-value item comes from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, with special versions of the four Turtles signed by franchise creator Kevin Eastman. These unique cards command prices ranging from $2,000 to nearly $3,000.
The Marvel Super Heroes set also boasts valuable cards, including a borderless, comic cover style version of Thanos, The Mad Titan, priced around $240. The Mind Stone artifact card from this set holds a significant value of $1,600, though a super-limited version yet to be widely found is expected to push its price even higher.
From the Lorwyn Eclipsed set, the Showcase Fracture Foil version of Bloom Tender is valued at approximately $350. This card is noted as a strong "mana dork," capable of tapping for each color among permanents controlled by the player, making it ideal for multi-colored decks that include green.
The Mystical Archive subset within Secrets of Strixhaven features several highly sought-after Japanese alternate art Silver Scroll Foil cards. Cyclonic Rift, a powerful instant that can return nonland permanents to their owner's hand, is priced at $412. Jeska’s Will, a potent red spell that generates mana based on an opponent's hand size or allows exiled cards from the library to be played, breaks the $500 mark at $505. Vampiric Tutor, a one-mana spell that places any card from a deck onto the top of the library, commands a high price of $730. The most expensive of these is Force of Will, a counterspell that allows its caster to pay one life and exile a blue card from hand to counter a spell. This version is currently valued at $985, having previously been worth over $1,150.
Lastly, the Showcase Fracture Foil of Super Shredder from the TMNT set is valued above $300. This two-cost creature with Menace gains power as cards leave the battlefield.
