CD Projekt Red has addressed player concerns regarding save data and achievements for the upcoming remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The developer confirmed that both existing saves and unlocked achievements and trophies will carry over to the new version.
This news comes as a significant relief to fans who have invested hundreds of hours into the game and were worried about losing their progress or having to re-earn accolades. The upgrade is set to release on September 29.
Previously, the 2022 next-gen upgrade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, while offering cloud save transfer, still presented a cumbersome process for players switching versions. Crucially, it did not auto-populate existing trophies and achievements, forcing players to unlock them all over again. This often served as a major deterrent for those aiming for full completion, like obtaining a platinum trophy.
The decision to allow saves and trophies to transfer directly means players can seamlessly continue their journey on the Path from where they left off, without the frustration of replaying or re-earning. This ensures that progress made on previous versions of the game will be recognized in the upcoming remastered edition.
