CD Projekt Red has announced a new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled "Songs of the Past," which continues Geralt's story. The expansion is set to arrive in 2027, 12 years after the original game's release.
"Songs of the Past" will see Geralt travel to Letten, the hometown of his friend Dandelion. Players will engage in dozens of new quests, interact with various NPCs, and participate in Gwent matches. The narrative begins after a local festival, with Dandelion having gone missing. Geralt, accompanied by Dandelion's cousin Lilla, will explore the fabled and reportedly haunted "Garden of Thorns" within Letten to uncover the mystery behind his friend's disappearance. New enemies, such as Swarmians who utilize bees for defense, will be introduced. Geralt will also gain access to a new chain weapon, described as functioning similarly to Scorpion's spear in its ability to pull enemies from a distance.
Alongside the announcement of the new expansion, CD Projekt Red also revealed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered. This updated version of the 2015 title will feature enhanced visuals, improved combat mechanics, new attacks and finishers, a revamped skill tree, and enhanced movement for both Geralt and his horse, Roach. The game's previously released expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, will be included for free for all owners of the base game. This remaster is a collaborative effort with The Witcher 3 modders and Cyberpunk 2077's next-gen development team, Yigsoft.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on September 29. Owners of the original game on these platforms will receive the remaster as a free upgrade. The "Songs of the Past" expansion will launch on the same platforms at a later date in 2027.
