CD Projekt Red has announced a remastered version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set to release on September 29. This extensive update will be a free upgrade for all existing owners of the base game, and will include all previously released expansions. The remaster will also be available on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The overhaul introduces a wide range of improvements, including upgraded graphics, enhanced combat mechanics, and refined traversal. Players can expect updated visual effects for witcher signs, revamped mount handling, improved monster behaviors, a reworked skill tree, transmogrification options, new finishers, and an expanded photo mode. The update also promises reworked looting, refined animations, better quest tracking, foliage shading improvements, and enhanced menu navigation.

This marks the third significant iteration for the 2015 role-playing game. Following its initial release, CD Projekt Red implemented numerous patches addressing bugs, UI issues, and gameplay complaints. A subsequent next-gen upgrade in 2022 brought further enhancements to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The upcoming remaster aims to build upon these improvements.

The free nature of the remaster for existing players underscores CD Projekt Red's commitment to its community. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will bundle the base game along with its existing expansions. The inclusion of the game on the Switch 2 platform is also notable, especially given the performance and visual compromises of the original Switch port. CD Projekt Red's success in optimizing Cyberpunk 2077 for Nintendo's new hardware suggests a potentially robust experience for Switch 2 owners looking to play or revisit the acclaimed title.
